Dr. John DenBoer
John DenBoer, USPTA, is a former collegiate tennis player with an array of tennis teaching experience. He was a 4-time Most Valuable Player award and 4-time Academic All-Conference selection at Carroll College (Waukesha, WI), where he played #1 singles and doubles from 1996 through 2000. He currently plays competitive tennis in local, regional, and national tournaments. At the end of 2009, he held the #1 ranking in the Men’s 30’s division (USTA Southwest) as well as the #7 ranking in the Men’s Open Division (USTA Southwest). He has approximately 10 years of tennis teaching experience with players of all ages and playing abilities. As the Founder and Director of Mental Edge Tennis™, he specializes in providing mental coaching services to competitive tennis players, ranging from club level players to top-ranked juniors, and including WTA and ATP tour professionals. In addition to conducting individual and group mental coaching sessions, he also does consultant work and speaking engagements.

In addition to his tennis activities, Dr. DenBoer is a full-time, Licensed Psychologist in the State of Arizona. His professional service centers around employing neuropsychological assessment instruments to help detect and aid in the diagnostic classification of brain disorders (e.g., traumatic brain injury (TBI) and aging (e.g., dementia). 
He received his internship training at the VA Boston Healthcare System (where he held a dual academic appointment at Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine) and received his postdoctoral training at Barrow Neurological Institute. He has published extensively on diverse topics in Clinical Neuropsychology and has been an expert speaker at many International, National, and local conferences. He currently works as the Clinical Neuropsychologist for the Trauma Service at Maricopa Medical Center (Phoenix, AZ).
